Well, this may be my last post ever. Which would be sad. (To be honest, I really do not believe that the world is ending. I'm just giving the Mayans the benefit of the doubt.)
So, spend your last few minutes listening to these songs about the end of the world. And don't do anything stupid. Because YOLO. (Am I the only one that doesn't understand YOLO? Like, yeah, you only live once, so you shouldn't do something stupid that could kill you. But people use it like "Oh I'm going to jump off this cliff! YOLO!" or "I'm going to take illegal drugs! YOLO" or "I'm going to climb in this great white shark's mouth when my leg is bleeding! YOLO!" Seriously? Why not, "I am going to spend this beautiful day I have been graciously given to help everyone I love! YOLO!" or "I'm going to post some videos about the end of the world on my blog so that everyone can enjoy their last few moments on earth (possibly) listening to some music! YOLO!")
Well, I really hope the world doesn't end. Peace out Suckahs!
Well, I did it! I pulled my first all nighter! And, no not because of homework, or anything reasonable like that, but because I was already out until 4, so we decided to just go all the way!
Last night, there was a dance for my dorms. It was a formal ball, and I never turn down an opportunity to dress up! I was hoping I would get asked to the dance, but I knew if I didn't, I would just go and party it up with my friends, so it would be ok. One of my friends kept saying that he didn't know who to ask, when most of the girls in our group of friends did not have dates yet. So about an hour before the dance started, some of my friends who weren't going were saying that he wasn't even going to go now. Well, I wanted him to go, and since he wouldn't ask anyone, I decided to ask him. (Which is pretty typical of me, seeing as probably 80% of the dates I have been on in my life, I have asked the guy.) I must say, I was kinda shocked/excited when he said yes with such short notice. (And when I say kinda, I mean I was really excited. Like so excited, I started jumping around squealing with excitement when I hung up the phone. So I really hope the phone actually hung up and he didn't hear me. Because that would have been super embarrassing. But I guess I don't really care about embarrassment at this point, since I'm writing about it on my blog.) Getting ready for the dance was really fun. A bunch of us girls went into one of our rooms and blasted music and did each other's hair and did our make-up and just had a blast! I found it really funny that everyone was curling their hair to be all "fancy", and I straightened mine. Oh the irony! Haha! The dresses we wore ranged from nice church dresses to full on prom dresses! I wore a dress I had gotten for my junior year Winter Formal, that has been worn on many other occasions. It was a salmon-y pink color and floor-length. Us girls took pictures in the lobby, and then walked over to the Cannon Center so that the few of us with dates could meet them. The Cannon Center had been decorated to look like a castle. There was a bridge and fake moat outside, and inside, the walls were covered to look like stones and there was gold and purple fabric hung every where. They had caricature artists, and a photo station with props, and carriage rides. (My date and I only took pictures because the lines for everything else were forever long.) Then there was the actual dance. It was so fun! Our group was soooo crazy! (Because honestly, dancing is no fun unless you are just letting loose and going crazy!) During the slow songs, my date and I would prance around and spin and make fun of other serious couples dancing. Our goal for the night was to have one normal slow dance, and we failed. :P But that's ok, because we had fun being weird! After the dance, we went with a couple of our friends to WalMart. In our dresses and everything. We walked around WalMart for a bit, then went to Denny's. After Denny's we drove around for a bit and then came back to the dorms. It was about 4 in the morning, and when we got back to the dorms, I mentioned I had never pulled an all-nighter before. So we decided we had to do it, for my sake. So, back to WalMart we went. We played hide-and-seek, which was not very fun because we were too tired. After a while, we went and got Hot Chocolate, and then my date and I wimped out at 7. The other couple went and watched the sunrise, but I decided that 7 was late enough in the morning to be considered an all-nighter. Which was probably a good thing, because I discovered that I have no filter when I am SUPER tired. I seriously just say every little thing that is on my mind. And I cannot stop it. I try, but it doesn't work. I'm thinking that is how it feels to be drunk. Except I at least remember being insane. :P I set my alarms to wake me up so I would have time to get ready and be at work at 1:15. My alarms didn't go off, and I ended up waking up at about 1:00. I jumped out of bed, freaking out, and I checked my phone. I had a voice mail telling me that I did not have to come into work. I was so relieved! I ended up going to get some food and then went back to sleep at about 3:30. I woke up at 6:00 for dinner, and then went with some friends to this thing called waffelpalooza. (Which wasn't as exciting as it sounds.) Maybe it would have been more fun if I wasn't so tired. Well, we left that and just came back to the dorms. So, my super exciting all night party was followed up with a not-so-exciting day. In conclusion, if you have never pulled an all-nighter, do it. Just be prepared to not enjoy the following day very much. :) Conclusion 2, do not pull an all nighter every night. That probably is not very healthy. Plus you will be tired and crazy. Which is not a good combination. Trust me.
This is not a normal picture. Unfortunately we did not take a normal picture. Because we are not normal people.
Last week, I got to go home for Thanksgiving! After having a really hard week, I was homesick and SO ready to go home. Luckily, I complained about not having a ride back to Arizona at work one day, and someone I work with said she was going and could take me. That was seriously the best thing ever!
So, Tuesday morning I got picked up to go home! I was in the car with the girl I work with and two of her friends. It was pretty fun, we just blasted music. We stopped in Flagstaff for food and to drop off one of the girls. We ended up getting to Flagstaff an hour early, so we had to wait for the girl's mom to come pick her up. Then we drove the rest of the way to Gilbert. AND I WAS HOME!! :D (If you couldn't tell, I was so flippin' excited to be home!) My parents and brothers were up to meet me, even though it was late. I couldn't stop smiling and hugging my family. It was so great to be home!
On Wednesday, I woke up when I felt like it with no alarm. It was awesome! I got up aand get a text from my dad asking if I wanted to meet him for lunch at In-N-Out. Uhmmm, heck yes!! So, I got to spend some time with my daddy, which was nice! Then I went to visit the school my mom teaches at. The was fun, becasue I got to see a few of my old teachers from elementary school. Then I picked up Betsy, and we went to Savers and Target and pretty much just had an awesome time! Later, my cousins came over for hot chocolate. After that, I went to my friend Chelsea's house and got to hang out with a bunch of my friends. I got a lot of hugs from them! They asked me if I was engaged yet, and were shocked to find out that I haven't even been on a date since I've been up at Provo. To be honest, I'm pretty shocked too... :P Well, we ended up watching Once Upon a Time (because some of them had never seen it). Yeah, I think they're hooked! ;)
Thursday was Thanksgiving! I kinda just hung out with my family and then our family friends came over and we ate yummy food! Uhm, thats really all.... But it was fun! And Delicious! :)
Friday was really fun! I took my brother to Chick-Fil-A because he had a gift card. Then I hung (hanged?) out with my friend Jesse. We got cupcakes, went to his friend's mission call opening (he is going to Hawaii), and went mini golfing with some more friends. After mini golf, some people wanted to get pizza, but me and Jake wanted Taco Bell, so we all went to go get food and met back at Jesse's house where we played Clue. Then we went and got rainbow slushies and went to my house where we played Bananagrams and watched Once Upon a Time (because none of them had seen it)! It was a super fun night!
Saturday, Kourtney took me to lunch at Firehouse Subs. After that, I went to my old work to say hi to everyone! It was so fun to be there again. I really miss it. After going to my work, Kourtney and I went to the mall! Later, some family friends came over for dinner, and I got to see my friend Haley! I have known Haley since we were about 2 years old! It was so fun to see her again. We played Bananagrams and Just Dance 4 (which is sooooo awesome! It has Call Me Maybe on it, and you can buy Gangnam Style for it! :D So cool!)
On Sunday, my dad made biscuits and gravy for breakfast (my favorite!). Then my dad took me on a motorcycle ride. I love riding on motorcycles! Then my family went to church while I packed up my stuff and watched Pokemon. Yeah, I watched Pokemon...... Then I got picked up and we drove back to Provo. We made awesome time! And now I'm back to the cold! (Which I'm actually very excited for!)
I am definitely so glad I got to go home! It was the perfect time! Now only three more weeks until I can go back! :) Oh, I love the Holiday season!
(Oh, and I know how awesome I am that I didn't take a single picture while I was in AZ. I really need to get better at taking pics....)
Well, it sure has been a while since I posted on my blog. I would like to tell you that this is because I have been very busy and productive. But it's against the honor code to lie. I really have just been extremeely lazy. But that's just me. So I will go over a few important points that have happened since I last posted.
1. Well, there was Halloween. And I for surely dressed up. And I was totes adorbs. But besides dressing up, I had a rather uneventful Halloween. 2. My friends and I thought it would be a good idea to bike to Savers. It wasn't. It took us so long to get there. And it wasn't that great. But I did find the movie Betsy and I have been searching for since we started out Savers trips. So I of course bought it. 3. I got rather homesick this weekend. It may have had something to do with some of my friends. But I won't rant on here. 4. I found someone to take me home to Arizona! I am so excited to go home next week! 5. It snowed. Like, really snowed. And it was beautiful and cold. Now it's just cool, and the snow that is left is boring and slushie. 6. I am almost completely caught up with Once Upon a Time. If you have never seen it, please do. It is addicting. And amazing. WATCH IT. 7. I have some pretty amazing Home Teachers. When I posted a rant on Facebook the night I started feeling homesick, I got a text from my hometeacher only a few minutes later making sure I was ok, and telling me that if I needed anything to just let him know. The next day, I had to work until really late, and I didn't want to walk home alone in the dark and cold, so one of my home teachers came and walked home with me. Seriously, those boys are awesome. 8. My friends had a Thanksgiving party without me. Because I had to work, but still. Everyone should make sure I am happy. Is that too much to ask? (Please know that this is sarcasm.) 9. I officially declared my major. As of right now, I am technically a "Pre-Comms" major, since advertising is a limited major. Pretty exciting stuff. 10. It is getting cold, and I want a cuddle buddy. Ok, so this technically isn't something that has happened since my last post, but I just want to make sure everyone knows that I just want a stinkin cuddle buddy. Ok? 11. I bought a scarf. Two actually. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME? I don't like scarves, and yet, I bought two. I'm turing into a Utah girl..... 12. Somebody heart attacked me. :) I'm guessing it was my visiting teachers. I could be wrong, but that's what I'm thinking. 13. I finished a couple sewing projects. A skirt and a shirt. Both are super cute! I promise I will post pictures later! 14. My roommate told me about this website. Cakewrecks.com If you need to waste a few (hundred) hours, go here. So Funny!!! 15. I couldn't stop at 14, but I don't think I really have anything else to say. So, it was nice catching up with you. I promise I will try to blog a little more regularly. Maybe. We'll see.
I like to create random situations in my head. Most of them involve meeting cute boys in line for Jamba Juice. They normally go a little something like this:
Cute Boy- Wow, there are so many to pick from, it's so hard!
Me- Yeah, I know! What's your favorite?
Cute Boy- I like (insert favorite smoothie here).
Me- That sounds good! I like Mango A-go-go.
Cute Boy- Yum! How about this, we order eachother's favorites and then if we don't like them we can just switch!
Me- Sounds good! I'm Kai, by the way, what's your name?
Cute Boy- (Insert boy name here.)
And blah blah blah, we get married and live happily ever after.
Yeah, pretty unrealistic situations. Or so I thought until today.
Today, I was standing in line at Jamba Juice when all of a sudden, a cute boy comes up behind me in line.
Cute Boy- Wow, there are so many to pick from, it's so hard!
Me- Yeah, I know! It is really hard to pick one.
Cute Boy- I usually just go back to my favorite. Carribean Passion every time.
Me- I like that or Mango A-Go-Go.
Cute Boy- Those are the good ones.
Me- Maybe I'll try (smoothie I forgot the name of).
Cute Boy- I tried that. I don't like it. It's too sweet.
Me- Oh, maybe I will try Orange A-Peel. You can't go wrong with orange, strawberry, and banana.
(After we order our smoothies)
Cute Boy- So you went with the Orange one?
Me- Yup, what about you?
Cute Boy- I got Berry Banana (or whatever...).
Me- Cool, that sounds good.
(Some time passes where we say nothing.)
Jamba Juice Worker- Kay! Kay your smoothie!
Me- (grabs my smoothie) They always say my name wrong. It's Kai, but they say Kay.
Cute Boy- Yeah, my name is (couldn't understand what he said) but they always say (couldn't understand what he said). Well have a good day!
Me- Thanks! You too! (Walks away.)
WHAT THE HECK?!?!?!? Why didn't I ask him his name earlier and keep up the conversation? What if I missed my chance with my soul mate? What if I was supposed to talk to him, but since I didn't, I am going to be punished with a life full of loneliness?
So, Cute Jamba Juice Boy, I hope I see you again. Maybe I will actually have the courage to talk to you about more than just smoothies. Maybe we can have Jamba Juice cater our wedding.... Ok that sounds a little creepy.
Ok, a lot creepy.
But I am kinda a creepy girl.
Oh, and I found out this weekend that I am a huge scaredy pants. My friends and I went to a Haunted Forest. It was my first Haunted anything (unless you count the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland...) and let's just say, it was a very fun but flipping scary experience. But, I only cried once during the whole thing! (Yes, that is a huge accomplishment.) It was during the part with the guy chasing us with a chainsaw. How stereotypical. I think it would be much better if there was a guy with a jackhammer or nail gun or something. Yeah, that would be better.
This morning, (after I woke up late for class,) I looked out my window, and what did I see? (If you just sang "Popcorn Popping on the apricot tree", you get cool points. Lots of them.) White. I saw white stuff all over the ground. I got all giddy and got ready in my most wintry clothes and ran outside. (At this point, by the time I got to class, it would be over... This is my first time EVER EVER EVER missing a class....) But I went all crazy Arizona girl all over that snow. I took pictures, and then my camera died. Then I made snowballs and a snowman! (Ok so he is more like a snow barbie, but still.) I haven't seen snow since I was 8, and that was lame snow. (Ok so this was lame snow too, especially since most of it had already melted...) This has been an exciting day so far! :D
So, I am sure you are wondering how my media fast went. I will tell you day by day how it was.
Sunday:
This was the easiest day, probably because I didn't have a whole lot of time to miss media. I woke up for church with an actual alarm clock and not my phone alarm. That was weird. After church I went to eat lunch at the Cannon Center. When I came back, I took a nap until it was time for ward choir. Then our ward had a fireside. After the fireside was the worst part of Sunday. I had a few hours in between the fireside and tunnel singing, and I wasn't tired, so all I wanted to do was check Facebook and listen to music. Since I couldn't do those, I tried to figure out what else I could do. I ended up coloring a picture. In silence. I figured out how much I listen to music. Listening to music is almost a constant, 24/7 thing for me, so the silence was killing me. Luckily, it didn't last long, and soon I went to tunnel singing. After tunnel singing, I hung out with some friends. We stayed up pretty late talking, so I went straight to bed afterwards without even thinking of media.
Monday:
I woke up and got ready (in silence,) and headed off to my classes. Since I always take hand-written notes, that fact I couldn't use my laptop didn't bother me much. In my sewing class, we usually play music while we sew, but since I was on the media fast, my class didn't play music. After my classes, I was bored. I had done all of my homework on Saturday, before I started the media fast, so I couldn't do homework, and sitting in my room doing something was so boring since I couldn't listen to music. I ended up straightening my hair (which killed a whole hour of time), then I went down to the lobby to hem the skirt I made in my sewing class. I couldn't text my friends to see what time they were going to go to dinner, so I just went at 6:00, and luckily my friends ended up being there. After dinner we had a ward Halloween party, and then I hung out with friends. It wasn't hard to be without media until I had to get ready for bed. I couldn't check my facebook, or my email, or anything.
Tuesday:
I don't know why I was feeling so lazy Tuesday morning. I really just didn't want to get ready for class. When I finally did get ready, I realised I needed to leave for class or I would be late. Since I couldn't check the weather (like I usually do) I didn't know that it was supposed to rain until I got outside and saw the dark clouds. Since I spent so long straightening my hair the day before, I had to go back and get an umbrella, just in case. So I ended up being late for my class, which was cancelled anyways, so it didn't matter. I would have known my class was cancelled, if I could have chacked my email before class. So, since I wasn't in class, I decided I could meet up with my friends for devotional. Too bad I couldn't text them to find out where to meet them. Well I eventually found a friend who called my other friend to have him meet me for devotional. After devotional, and my last class of the day, my friend met me in my lobby so we could hang out and so I wouldn't die of boredom. It was fine until our other friend came, then they started looking at her computer and looking things up on the internet. I just sat there, unable to join in. I then went to dinner and after dinner, I went to work. Here is where my biggest problem with the media fast came. I clocked in and headed over to where the event was (I work for catering) and the doors to the building were locked. I walked all around the building and couldn't find anyone, so I headed back to the Wilk to see if they had finished early. There was only one person there, and she called the people I wass working with to find them. I had to go back to the event venue, only to see they had finished cleaning and all we had to do was go BACK to the Wilk and wash dishes. I had been called in early to work, but didn't get the message since I couldn't use my phone. After work I sat in my room waiting until midnight when I could turn on my phone and computer again.
Overall, the experience wasn't horrible. I learned how much I appreciate having media in my life. I also learned that my friends are pretty supportive and that they care about me.They would go out of their way to make sure I knew when they were going to places, and they helped me out whenever I needed. I must say the hardest part was definitely not listening to music. Since I am almost always listening to music, it was definitely strange to have silence in the background. I also learned that I should probably get a watch, because not knowing what time it is is definitely hard. It was a good experience to learn how truly dependent I am on media, but that it is possible for me to go without it. I would probably never willingly do this again, but if for some reason I have to do it, I know I can survive.
So, before the media fast happened, something pretty spectacular happened. I was walking back from helping my friend with his chemistry lab, when we saw a deer. A flipping deer on campus. Like holy crap! I never see deer in Gilbert! So we stopped and were taking pictures of it. I naturally start singing to it like Giselle in Enchanted. We keep taking pictures and I keep singing when all of the sudden 5 more deer come running out of nowhere! I felt like a Disney princess! :D It was sooo cool!!!
Speaking of Princesses, I started watching Once Upon a Time with my friends last week. It is really as good as everyone said it was. :)
Can I just tell you I love cold and snow? I really do. It was snowing while I walked to my physics class today. It melted almost as soon as it hit the ground, but it was pretty much awesome. But I have realised that I am definitely going to need to buy some winter essentials. My coat that I wore like three times a year in Arizona in the middle of winter in the middle of the night is barely warm enough here in Provo in the fall during the day. I also need to get me some cute gloves and cute beanie hats. And scarves. (I hate scarves, but I can see how they would be nice.)
So, since I missed Youtube Tuesday, I am going to make it up now. Here are some videos.
This is definitely me in the Snow today. :)
1:12 is what I felt like when those deer came running when I sang.
So, I hope you all have had a fantastic week! And I hope you have a fantastic weekend! :)
Actually, at midnight, I am starting a media fast for a class. That means no phone, internet, computer, tv, or music for THREE DAYS. I think I am going to go crazy. So, if you desperately need to get a hlod of me, (and you live in utah) just come to my door. Seriously, check up on me and make sure I am still sane.
Honestly, the harded part will probably be no music.
I will tell you all about it when it's done.
Peace out! See ya in three days!!!
(And, an outfit post might be in the near future. Just saying.)
